I was born in the post-war era into a relatively poor family.
Now we were not at starvations door by any means but money was tight.
My father was in the RAF from 1939 to about 1955. He was abroad most of that time.
Mother took care of us.
At the age of 11, I had the opportunity to go to boarding school. No, it was not a fancy expensive public school as we call them in the UK. It was a religious school and luckily for me, the fees were paid by generous benefactors.
It was a highly academic school. Unfortunately, I was not a gifted child. I passed the exams but it was always a struggle for me.
